Special health insurance card for cross-border commuters
If you live in Sweden and work in Denmark, you are generally covered by the Danish social security system. This entitles you to use the Danish healthcare system on the same terms as people living in Denmark, even if you are not registered as a resident.
You can apply for the Danish special health insurance card, det særlige sundhedskort, free of charge from Udbetaling Danmark. There is no minimum requirement for how much you work in Denmark, as long as you are employed and have an employment contract.

The card is valid for two years and is also informally known as a gränsgångarbevis.

Health insurance card if you live in Denmark
If you live in Denmark, you need a standard Danish health insurance card, sundhedskort. The card entitles you to treatment by GPs and specialists. You may also be eligible for subsidies towards medicine, dental treatment, physiotherapy, podiatry, chiropractic treatment and psychological treatment.
The card shows your name, CPR number and contact details for your GP in Denmark.

European Health Insurance Card (EHIC)
You should get the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) from the country where you are covered by social security. The card gives you access to necessary public healthcare during temporary stays in other European countries.
If you are covered by social security in Denmark, you can apply for the EHIC at borger.dk. If you have children and both parents work in Denmark, the EHIC for your children must also be issued in Denmark.
